DEFCON is a very unusual strategy game. You can play it on PC. High quality graphics, but in a very unusual simplified style. The voice acting is well done, the music is meditative.

The youngest players should not play DEFCON because the game is quite violent, although it does not contain bloody scenes.

The game takes you back to the times of the Cold War and allows you to find out what would happen if the crisis escalated into a real nuclear confrontation.

You become a general of one of the armies for the duration of the game, your task is to destroy the civilian population of hostile countries with the help of nuclear weapons.

The game did not arise on its own, the developers were inspired by the War Games movie. Unlike the movie, in this case you are not an outside observer and can directly influence everything that happens.

The task before you is not an easy one, because it is not in vain that it is believed that there can be no winners in a nuclear confrontation.

Here are some facts before you start playing DEFCON.

The first nuclear bomb was tested in the desert near Alamogordo, New Mexico, USA on July 16, 1945, which allowed America to subsequently win the Second World War over Japan, which was extremely militarized at that time. But the price was huge, during the attacks on Hiroshima on August 6 and Nagasaki on August 9, many people died and not all of them were soldiers.

At its core, nuclear weapons were created as a factor guaranteeing mutual destruction, and this should keep all parties from clashes.

But in the case illustrated by the game, it didn't work and that's why you have a mission of extreme difficulty. In such an important matter as saving your chosen country from total destruction, it is better not to make mistakes. A short tutorial at the beginning of the game will help you understand the controls before it leads to mass deaths among the population of the country you are playing.

You get points for destroying enemy population. This allows you to use diplomacy more actively, because allies will rush to help you only if they are sure of your victory. Losses among your population, on the contrary, will bring defeat. Do not think that casualties among the population can be avoided altogether. In the course of hostilities of this magnitude, all parties will have a hard time. Make sure that the losses of the enemy greatly exceed your losses and emerge victorious from the fight.
