Old World is a historical strategy that at first glance looks like a civilization, but despite the similarity of all games in this genre, there are many differences. If Civilization superficially affects all eras from the Stone Age to the present day, then this game is focused on the era of Antiquity and reaches the early Middle Ages. The narrowed time frame allows a more complete and detailed show of that period of history. Despite the fact that the game was developed by a small team, the graphics quality is not satisfactory. The audio accompaniment deserves every praise, the music is very well chosen, which is unusual for a strategy game.
Starting to play Old World, you choose the nation, gender and appearance of the ruler.

Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, by choosing any of them you can become the strongest civilization of the era with wise management.
Next, we generate a scenario, select the difficulty, the reaction of the barbarian tribes and the presence of the fog of war. There is no campaign in the game, and there cannot be.
Then the actual game starts. At first, one settler will come to your disposal, who will have to found a city in the place you have chosen. Cities in the game can not be built everywhere, but only in strategically well located points, which makes sense. Over time, cities can be expanded. In the city itself, only a few buildings and units are available for construction. Most buildings are erected outside the city, this gives a natural growth of the settlement towards the surrounding territories.
Unlike Civilization, here your country has a ruler sitting on a throne and he has statistics and even a certain character. You can influence how it will be - cruel, or kind, making decisions in situations simulated by the game. If he is cruel this may make him more successful in conquest. Or the strength of the leader will be diplomacy, trade and other areas of activity of your choice.
The game covers a fairly large period of time, naturally one person will not be able to rule your country all this time. You will form the ruling dynasty, for this you need to take care of the education of descendants and marry in time by picking up a couple among the heirs of the rulers of neighboring states or among the local aristocracy. Religion is also present in the game, for example, if the husband or wife of the ruler has other religious views, two religions can coexist in your country, or even more.
You will have to read in the game, but it is interesting and will not take too much time.
There is no automated construction in the game, although it will probably be added later with updates. But at the moment, you need to regularly spend time on issuing appropriate instructions to employees.
