Darkest Dungeon is not an ordinary idle rpg. Most often, games of this genre have a cheerful cartoon atmosphere, but this is not such a game. The atmosphere here is extremely gloomy, depressive, with appropriate musical accompaniment.
The game begins with the fact that you receive a letter from a distant relative, in which he describes a mysterious estate where a portal to another dimension has been discovered and some incredibly terrible mystical events are taking place. There is nothing to do, we go to sort out the place in order to find out what fate befell the relative, and for one to figure out what happened.
When they arrive, they find that the surroundings of the manor are infested with filth. Having settled down in the neighboring town, recruit a team of fighters and start the fight for the fate of mankind.
Form a squad of fighters of different classes so that it has melee units, ranged units and characters that provide support to the combatants.

And in the hospital it will be possible to heal from illnesses and even correct some character traits. The services of institutions are not free, you will have to part with gold. The buildings themselves can also be improved, which will require various resources.
When you start playing Darkest Dungeon you will have to explore a huge number of dungeons and kilometers of catacombs around the estate. When advancing, be careful, in addition to the obvious threat emanating from the hordes of evil spirits inhabiting these ancient tunnels, even the blockages are dangerous, clearing which can be seriously injured. Even just by reading a found book, you can catch a disease that will not be easy to get rid of.
In the dungeons you will find many chests, not all of which are filled with treasures, there may be unpleasant surprises. In addition, sometimes you will stumble upon the corpses of warriors, your predecessors and an endless number of traps.
In addition to the obvious preservation of health, you need to take care of the emotional state of the squad members. After all, the endless battles with monsters, necromancers and the oppressive atmosphere of the dungeons do not have the best effect on the psyche. You need to return to the town in time to relieve stress in a tavern or by visiting a church. Otherwise, the fighters can go crazy, which will lead to their death.
Battles take place step by step, team by team, the sequence of strikes depends on the speed and initiative.
