The AI is smart enough to keep you from getting bored and create a real threat of defeat. There are several difficulty modes for both beginners and more experienced players.

In turn-based strategy mode, your units and enemy units are shown schematically as figures on a field consisting of hexagonal sections. You and your opponent take turns. The battlefield is a real terrain with forests, hills and rivers. Use the terrain to your advantage and don't let the enemy take advantage.

In real-time strategy mode, you can plan and place fortifications, lead small units of your army.

Do not neglect diplomacy, it allows you to get the help of allies in difficult situations for you.

You can play both in a single player campaign and against real players online.
