This weapon has long been listed as one of the main ones. In the Middle Ages, there were entire detachments who were trained in this skill in order to apply it during battle. A well-aimed arrow could destroy a guard from a high tower, but the defenders of the castle also fired arrows like rain at the besieging army, destroying the enemy en masse, trying not to let it near their walls.

Later, crossbows appeared - modified bows equipped with a spring mechanism. The arrow was placed inside the device, the string was pulled, and then the trigger mechanism was launched at the target. Even today there are original samples, among which there are so small that when folded, they fit in a pocket.
